60th Annual Howell Melon Festival
The Howell Area Parks and Recreation Authority is in the process of reworking the Howell Melon Festival for its 60th annual event. Due to
economic and safety issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the Festival will have a much different look to it in 2020.

The Authority has canceled the in-person arts and craft show and has put several other programs on hold for now. Events coordinator Amelia PurdyKetchum mentioned, This is an opportunity for us to get creative and work with our partners to offer safe, quality programming for the community this summer. We have lots of great ideas for new programs that allow for social distancing and safety. We were sad to see so many of our local events canceled for this summer. We really want to use these few months before the scheduled festival to put together something fun for our residents after all they've been through.

Potential programs for this year include a drive-in movie or concert, scavenger hunts, art and baking competitions, and more. Some events
will go virtual, including the 43rd Howell Melon Run. The events will be scheduled throughout the month of August to minimize crowds.
