Description: | From Port Huron Hobo Fest Website: The Port Huron and Detroit Railroad Historical Society hosts Hobo Fest annually on the third weekend in September.
This year it will be held Friday, September 13th 7:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday, September 14th 10 am - 4 pm at The Port Huron & Detroit Railroad Historical Society located at 2100 32nd Street in Port Huron.
Friday evening we will kick off the Fest with the traditional lighting of the campfire at 7:00 pm, acoustic music, and our annual movie night. Saturday the FUN begins at 10:00 AM. Acoustic music provided by some of the area's finest musicians, children's games, SPAM Carving and more. We will close the camp with the traditional extinguishing of the campfire at 4 pm.
The event celebrates Port Huron's history as a vital international transport center, the city's struggle to overcome the economic depression and the courage and resourcefulness of those that rode the rails seeking work and adventure.
The 19TH annual hobo gathering will feature a Spam carving contest and cook off, Hobo Royalty coronation, acoustic music, children's activities model train layouts, and much, much more.
Hobo Fest is a FREE family friendly, educational event that gathers people together of all ages to experience the life and adventures of the hobo.
Please bring lawn chairs and dress casually according to the weather.
* Hobo Fest is a free event. However, donations are gratefully accepted and are tax deductible. All proceeds are used to restore our building and expand our growing collection of rolling stock.
